Pourquoi elle, sinon ? Eh bien, son univers m'attire depuis longtemps car j'y retrouve beaucoup de mes goût personnels y compris des univers que j'exploite moi-même peu ou pas en illustration. Ce qui devient donc intéressant. Actuellement on sent énormément l'influence d'horreur, de pulps et de quelques navets audiovisuels entre années 50 et années 80. J'aime bien, mais peut-être pas autant que les pans suivants de son palmarès d'inspis : Folklore, XVIIIe siècle, Glamour genre Old Hollywood, elle a même fait des fanarts d'X-Files, L'Histoire Sans Fin ou Twin Peaks, des fandoms plus qu'atypiques chez les illustrateurs. Reste que dans le genre « elle concrètise beaucoup plus de ses idées que moi », devant la possibilité de commissionner quelque chose, je lui ai demandé un sujet « que je comptais faire un jour », catégorie « en l'an 2021 ». Un peu comme cette dédicace de François Amoretti, d'ailleurs. Le résultat est le croquis qui illustre cet article.
Why her, by the way? Well, I'm attracted toward her universe because I recognize a lot of my personal tastes and that include things I barely exploit myself — if at all — in my illustrations. Which I find is an interesting notion. Lately horror, pulps and 50s to 80s b-movie have been a huge part of this artist's influences. I quite like it, but maybe not as much as the following top themes from her achievements: Folklore, XVIIIth century, Old Hollywood Glamour, and she even went as far as producing fanarts of The X-Files, The Neverending Story or Twin Peaks, quite the atypical fandoms amongst illustrators. While I was pondering on the “she sure makes a lot more of her ideas concrete than I do” subject, when faced with the possibility or commissioning her I went for something “I mean to paint someday”, “in 2021 maybe” category. Has happened before, now that I think of it. The result is the sketch illustrating this blog post.
